Elk Hunts...Rocky Mountain elk are Idaho's premier big game animal and most hunters agree, they are the king of all big game species. Thanks to Idaho's diverse habitats and a population of approximately 107,000 elk, an incredible mixture of elk hunting opportunities await the hunter such as; pursuit above farm fields, high mountain meadows or among thick timbered ridges. Elk hunting has always been a passion and a main event for us during fall rut and beyond. Your personal guide will bring this passion, lifetime of experience and knowledge of these majestic animals on each and every elk hunt to guarantee you the ultimate hunting experience. Sit back and imagine rattling or bugling in an 800 pound bull carrying 40 pounds of antler and you will have an idea of what it's like to hunt bull elk during rut. Don your camo and bring your choice of bow or rifle. Leave the rest to us.
At Idaho Whitetail Guides, you have your choice of several excellent six (6) day elk hunting options. Methods may include scoping, spotting open hillsides, stalking, watching elk wallows, scouting waterholes, calling, or still hunting trails and ridges. These will vary depending upon time of season and type of hunt you desire. Whether you're a serious trophy hunter or hunting meat for the freezer, Idaho Whitetail Guides offers a hunt for you. Archery/Bow hunts begin first weekend of September when the bulls are bugling (in rut) and during a bow only season providing the archer with an excellent opportunity to take a mature bull. Archery elk hunting is usually best the last two weeks of September. Five and six point bulls are not uncommon. Rifle hunts run for two weeks during the month of October (10th through the 24th). The off-road hunts will improve the chances of getting a trophy elk. Transportation by 4x4 pickup and ATV’s. Idaho Whitetail Guides hunts a very remote rugged mountainous area giving you a chance for a great bull. Plan to arrive the day before and depart the day after the dates of the hunt. Hunt Options: Call, text or email for current price information on any of the available six (6) day options depending upon the season. *Families & non-hunters welcome (with small fee) Note: Individuals born after January 1, 1975 must complete a hunter education course to purchase an Idaho hunting license OR show proof of a previously held valid hunting license in Idaho or another state. Non-resident elk and deer tags, excluding non-resident junior mentored elk tags, are valid to take a black bear, mountain lion or gray wolf instead of an elk, if a season is open for that species, where and when the elk tag is valid, and if there is an open elk season in that same unit.
